Works of Art

Buy a frame for the precious creations that the kids make at home and school.  Whether it is a colored drawing, water color painting, or another piece of artwork your child will be proud to see their art framed and hung in a place of honor.  You may want to change out the piece of art with an updated piece as your child grows and creates new works of art.

Another way to display those precious works of art is to build a clothes line artwork center.  Take 2 "J" hooks and screw each end into a solid piece of wood (weight can become a problem if attaching directly to the drywall), such as a window frame then attach the string to each end creating the clothesline.  Take mini clothes pins, they are available in multiple colors, and pin the art to the line.  This is an easy way to display the art and it is easily interchangable.

Popsicle Stick Picture Frame

  • 8 Popsicle sticks
  • Crayons, markers, or paint
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Cardboard (an old cereal box will work)
  • Photo (that can be cut to size)
  • Assessories to decorate the frame (buttons, yarn, stickers, lace, fabric, sequins are a few suggestions)
  1. Put 2 Popsicle sticks together vertically (up and down).  Put 2 more, also vertically, next to them.
  2. Take the photo and slide the edges under the four sticks so that neither of the sides show.
  3. Place 2 more Popsicle sticks together horizontally so that the top edge is covered.  Do the same with the bottom edge using the last two sticks.  (The top and the bottom sticks will cross over the side sticks on the frame).   Use a pencil to lightly mark where the frame will attach to the photo.
  4. Glue the frame together.  Set aside until dry.
  5. Put the picture on a piece of cardboard and trace around it.  Trim the cardboard to be 1/4 " larger that the picture.
  6. Glue the picture to the center of the cardboard.
  7. Decorate your frame.
  8. Once the frame is dry, glue the picture to the frame.
