I recently received a newsletter from Focus on the Family  in which it quoted the Editor-In-Chief Mortimer Zuckeman of the U.S. News & World Report.  He was speaking of the family and stated, "The stable family of two biological parents - surprise, surprise!  turns out to be the ideal vessel for molding character, for nurturing, for inculcating values, and for planning for a child's future.  By comparison the children of single parents or broken families do worse at school and in their career [sic].  Marriage, or the lack of it, is the best single predictor of poverty, greater even than race or unemployment."

Marriage and committed relationships are going to be a challenge, at times it will be exhilarating and at other times your heart may be broken.  But is it worth it to continue working to make your marriage be the best it can be for the greater good of your children (and hopefully, ultimately you and your spouse)?  I have asked this question of myself recently and my answer is that yes it is. 

In this time when there as so many pressures on the families, when Dad and Mom are both in the workforce and trying to juggle their career and family, I have been encouraged to make my first focus my marriage and my children.  The holiday season provides us with many opportunities to build relationships, make memories, and to spend quality time with our families. 

Create a legecy for your children that will make a difference in their lives and in our world!
